Bike with us in Sunny Florida in late January-early February!
On our AMAZING Dunedin (Dun-eed-in) Hub Tours, we enjoy riding 100% paved bike paths, featuring the Pinellas Loop Trail, a wonderful rail trail which connects the town of Dunedin with Clearwater, Safety Harbor, Clearwater, Tarpon Springs and other smaller cities. This well-known trail is very popular and passes through quiet neighborhoods, manufacturing centers, past coffee shops and breweries, in several cities and towns. On this tour we will explore areas north and south of Dunedin. We’ll visit Clearwater, Honeymoon Island, Clearwater Beach and Tarpon Springs. We'll also cycle the spectacular Courtney Campbell Causeway Trail across Tampa Bay, one of the longest cycling trails over water in the country!
Our mileage averages around 25 per day on paved bike paths, with more mileage available daily.
What's a Hub Tour? We stay at the same hotel each night -- located ON the bike trail -- and set out on our rides from there each day.

Itinerary
-
Day 1 - Sunday
Meet riders in Dunedin for our introductory meeting and social hour. Then we'll walk to dinner at nearby restaurant.
-
Day 2 - Monday
25 miles - We'll start our week by heading south on the Pinellas Trail and then west toward Tampa Bay, following bike paths through several nice parks and along the shore of Tampa Bay enroute to Safety Harbor for a rest & snack, where you may see dolphins playing. Then we’ll head back south to ride across the Courtney Campbell Causeway, one of the longest stretches of bike trail over water in the country. Our destination is Ben T. Davis Park at the east end of the causeway, where we’ll grab lunch on the water. After lunch we’ll load into the van and return to our hotel for some R&R.
-
Day 3 - Tuesday
21.3 miles - We’ll again bike the Pinellas Trail south, this time all the way to the lovely 156 acre John S. Taylor Park, then backtrack to Clearwater, where we will take the high bridge path over the bay to Clearwater Beach. This is a spectacular ride! Lunch is on your own in Clearwater Beach. You can explore the beach or walk out on Pier 60 Fishing Pier, or check out the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, before heading back to Dunedin at your own pace.
-
Day 4 - Wednesday
23.2 miles: We’ll bike north on the Pinellas Trail this time, roughly 12 miles, to Tarpon Springs. This Greek community is well known for the Sponge Docks, where divers unload their harvest of sponges. Souvenirs, handmade soaps, local shops and cafes abound. After we’ve all had lunch and enough shopping we’ll make our way back to the trail and head south. Wall Springs Park makes a good rest spot. You can see the clear springs at the park and explore even further on the trail which leads to an overlook. The mangroves hold many birds and other creatures. We’ve seen osprey, roseate spoonbill and many other shore birds here. Finish off the ride and you’re back at our hotel.
-
Day 5 - Thursday
26.3 miles - Today's first 8 miles will look familiar as we again follow the Pinellas Trail south, but this time we'll only be warming up as we head past John Taylor Park and set our sights on St. Petersburg and an opportunity to visit the spectacular Salvador Dali Museum. The next 18 miles of the Pinellas Trail takes us across the Long Bayou Footbridge spanning Boca Chica Bay with sweeping views of the urban landscape, along with crossings of dozens of other pedestrian bridges along the way. The support van & trailer will shadow us to St. Petersburg, and at the conclusion of our museum visit we’ll load into it and return to our hotel.
-
Day 6 - Friday
12 - 15 miles. After checking out of the hotel, we’ll cap our week with a gorgeous ride on the Dunedin Causeway Trail out to Honeymoon Island State Park. We’ll set up a rest stop with refreshments for you near the trailhead of the 3-mile Nature Trail. Nearby is the North Beach and its white sandy beaches, take your picnic lunch (Included) and enjoy it where you like. We usually see gopher tortoises, ospreys and bald eagles on this day; keep your eyes peeled for a great horned owl! Around 1:00 p.m. we’ll head back to the Holiday Inn Express and say farewell.
